Abstract

Urolithiasis is among the most frequently encountered urinary disorders in both classical and integrative clinical practice, marked by high recurrence and considerable morbidity. Phyllanthus niruri L. (Euphorbiaceae), known in vernacular usage as "stone-breaker" or Bhumi Amla, occupies a distinct place in homoeopathic materia medica following its drug proving by the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH) and has simultaneously attracted sustained pharmacological interest as an antiurolithiatic botanical. This article reviews the homoeopathic understanding of Phyllanthus niruri derived from proving symptoms and clinical verification, and juxtaposes it against experimental and clinical evidence from contemporary nephrology and urology literature. The aim is to help postgraduate scholars appreciate where symptom-based homoeopathic prescribing and mechanism-based pharmacological research converge, and where important evidentiary gaps remain, so that the remedy may be used with both traditional fidelity and scientific awareness.
